Kerala Announces Strong Squad for 77th Santosh Trophy

Kerala has unveiled its formidable lineup for the upcoming 77th edition of the Santosh Trophy, a prestigious football tournament in India. The 22-member squad, under the captaincy of Nijo Gilbert, boasts a talented roster of players geared up for the competition in Goa, commencing from October 9. Sanju G, a strong defender, has been named the vice-captain, adding depth to the team’s leadership. In Group A, Kerala will face off against Gujarat in their opening match on October 11, joined by formidable opponents like Jammu Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, and the host state Goa.

The team is under the expert guidance of coach Satheevan Balan, who previously led Kerala to victory in 2018. The squad is balanced across all positions, with experienced goalkeepers including Muhammed Azhar, Sidharth Rajeevan, and Muhammed Nishad. The defensive line is fortified with players like Belgin Bolster, Shinu R, Mohammed Salim, Nithin Madhu, Sujith R, and Sarath KP. The midfield is controlled by talented players including Arjun V, Jithin G, Akbar Sidhique N P, Rashid M, Rizwan Ali E.K., Bijesh Balan, and Abdhu Raheem. Upfront, the striking force comprises Junain K, Sajeesh E, Muhammed Ashiq S, and Naresh B, promising an exciting and competitive tournament for Kerala football fans.
