PM Modi to Launch Second Vande Bharat Express Train in Kerala Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate nine Vande Bharat Express trains on Sunday, establishing connections between religious and tourist destinations spanning 11 states.

These nine trains aim to enhance connectivity across Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Gujarat.

Kerala will now boast two Vande Bharat Express trains, with the newly sanctioned express operating through Alappuzha and including a stop at Tirur. The inaugural ceremony will take place at 12 PM in Kasaragod, where the Prime Minister will participate via video conference. Minister of State V Muraleedharan and Railway Minister V Abdurahiman will also attend the event.

The new Vande Bharat trains will operate on the following routes: Udaipur – Jaipur; Tirunelveli-Madurai-Chennai; Hyderabad – Bengaluru; Vijayawada – Chennai (via Renigunta); Patna – Howrah; Kasaragod – Thiruvananthapuram; Rourkela – Bhubaneswar – Puri; Ranchi – Howrah; and Jamnagar-Ahmedabad.

These trains represent a significant step towards realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of enhancing nationwide connectivity and providing top-notch facilities to rail passengers. They are expected to be the fastest trains on their respective routes, reducing travel times considerably compared to existing options.

For example, the Vande Bharat trains will reduce travel time between Rourkela-Bhubaneswar-Puri and Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram by about three hours, Hyderabad-Bengaluru by over 2.5 hours, and Tirunelveli-Madurai-Chennai by more than 2 hours. Travel time between Ranchi-Howrah, Patna-Howrah, and Jamnagar-Ahmedabad will be shortened by about one hour compared to current options.

The Rourkela-Bhubaneswar-Puri and Tirunelveli-Madurai-Chennai routes will connect important religious towns of Puri and Madurai, while the Vijayawada-Chennai Vande Bharat Express will provide connectivity to the Tirupati pilgrimage center via the Renigunta route.

These Vande Bharat trains, equipped with world-class amenities and advanced safety features like Kavach technology, represent a significant stride towards offering modern, fast, and comfortable travel options for the general public, professionals, business travelers, students, and tourists in India.
