Driverless cars to be launched in India
Research institutions and universities and even automobile majors in India are experimenting on driverless vehicles on its crowded roads with the future mode of transport.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad hopes to launch driverless vehicles on its campus within six months. “The vehicles are ready,” Prof BS Murthy, director of the institute said to media on Tuesday. “Before we use them, we want to be fully confident and hence the tests.”
Tesla and Waymo and other Indian companies too are in the race to develop such vehicles. Automobile majors are deploying advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in their vehicles, which might ultimately lead to fully automated cars near soon.
