Facebook Introduces ‘Link History’ on Mobile App to Track Websites You Visit: How to Enable or Disable It

Facebook has introduced a new feature called ‘Link History’ on its mobile app, allowing users to track and save the websites they visit through the platform’s mobile browser. This optional feature is enabled by default and stores the user’s browsing activity for 30 days. While Facebook promotes it as a convenient way to revisit recently clicked links, privacy concerns arise as the company acknowledges using this information for targeted advertising.

Users may receive an in-app pop-up notification informing them about the Link History feature. The notification states, “Never lose a link again” and emphasizes the convenience of having recent links saved in one place. However, the fine print reveals that Facebook may leverage this data to improve targeted ads across its Meta technologies.

To enable or disable Link History, users can follow these steps

Open any link inside the Facebook app to launch the mobile browser.

Tap the three-dot menu in the bottom right.

Select “Browser settings.”

Toggle the Link History setting on or off and confirm the choice.

It’s worth noting that turning off Link History will immediately clear the browsing activity, but the deletion process may take up to 90 days.

This move follows Facebook’s strategy of providing additional features while raising privacy concerns. Users are urged to review their app settings and preferences to ensure they are comfortable with the data being collected and used by the platform.
