Innovative Move: KSRTC to Dynamically Adjust Long-Route Buses Based on Passenger Demand

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is contemplating a novel strategy to regulate the number of long-route buses by dynamically adjusting them based on passenger count. In a bid to optimize efficiency, the number of buses plying these routes will be flexibly increased or decreased according to the real-time demand. This innovative approach aims to address the issue of buses running either overcrowded or with very few passengers.

Under this experimental initiative, if a bus on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kozhikode bypass route has minimal passengers, they will be seamlessly transferred to another bus on the same route with available seating capacity. Conversely, during peak hours or high demand periods, buses will operate simultaneously to accommodate the rush. The decision to implement this dynamic adjustment will be informed by real-time ticket distribution data, offering a more responsive and efficient transport service on one of Kerala’s key routes. This forward-thinking move by KSRTC seeks to enhance passenger comfort and overall transportation effectiveness.
