X, Owned by Elon Musk, Reintroduces Headlines in Link Previews with a Tiny Twist

The latest developments on Elon Musk’s microblogging site, X, reveal a shift in its approach to link previews. Reports suggest that the platform is reintroducing headlines for shared articles, a move that comes several months after headlines were removed to enhance aesthetics. The revised implementation, however, displays headlines and website names in a small font at the bottom left of the preview image, introducing a nuanced change to the presentation of links. While there is an ongoing debate about the impact on user experience, this reversal reflects X’s responsiveness to user feedback. Elon Musk has not officially commented on the return of this feature, and it appears that the change has not yet taken effect in India, with only the website name visible in link previews.

Since Elon Musk’s takeover of X in late 2022, the platform has seen several alterations and innovations. The recent introduction of Grok, an AI chatbot developed by Musk’s AI firm xAI, is one such addition. Currently available exclusively to X Premium+ Subscribers on Web, iOS, and Android, Grok represents Musk’s ongoing efforts to reshape and refine the user experience on the microblogging platform.
