The Mumbai Crime Branch team raided Shilpa Shetty’s house on Friday (July 23) and questioned her about the case. On the same day, it was announced that Raj Kundra’s police detention had been extended until July 27, 2021. Officials from the Mumbai Crime Branch are now suspecting an online betting angle. Adult films have been recovered from the shady app HotShots.
For the uninitiated, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra, was arrested on Monday evening (July 19) by Mumbai police for allegedly being a “key conspirator” in a case involving the production and distribution of pornographic films via mobile apps. Pornography is prohibited in India. The HotShots app is at the centre of the controversy, and it has since been removed from the Google and Apple app stores.
The Mumbai police commissioner stated in a statement that there is strong evidence against Raj Kundra, the case’s “key conspirator.” “In February 2021, a case was filed with the Crime Branch in Mumbai regarding the production of pornographic films and their distribution via various apps. On 19/7/21, we arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case because he appears to be the main conspirator. “We have sufficient evidence in this regard,” read the statement.
