Collaboration Between UAE Government and Mastercard Aims to Boost AI Adoption

The UAE’s Office for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications has joined forces with Mastercard through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the region’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities. The partnership aims to initially focus on combatting financial crime, ensuring digital ecosystem security, and promoting inclusive growth in the UAE and beyond.

H.E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, highlighted the UAE government’s commitment to strategic partnerships with private sectors and prominent international companies. These collaborations are instrumental in accelerating AI adoption, a pivotal element of the nation’s digital advancement and prosperity journey.

Al Olama stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation in realizing the objectives outlined in the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, which aims to solidify the UAE’s position as a global AI hub while nurturing technology-driven frameworks in priority sectors.

Furthermore, Al Olama commended Mastercard for its dedication to AI, notably the establishment of the global Centre for Advanced AI and Cyber Technology in Dubai.

Investing in Innovation and Local Talent Mastercard has introduced its latest Centre for Advanced AI and Cyber Technology in Dubai, focusing on AI-powered solutions to combat financial crime, bolster digital ecosystem security, and drive inclusive growth. The center will also serve as a hub for nurturing and hiring local AI talent, including data engineers and data scientists. This initiative aims to accelerate global AI innovation and cater to customers worldwide from the UAE.

Ajay Bhalla, President of Cyber & Intelligence at Mastercard, highlighted the vital role of AI in enhancing operations, product development, and network intelligence to enhance digital experiences while mitigating financial fraud and risk. Bhalla emphasized that the collaboration between the Advanced AI Centre and the UAE government will offer increased value to customers and reinforce trust in the digital ecosystem.

Dimitrios Dosis, President of Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Mastercard, emphasized the UAE’s leadership in pioneering innovative technologies for economic growth and digital transformation. With over 35 years of investment in the UAE, Mastercard aims to leverage AI’s potential through this partnership, ushering in the next generation of transformative technology in line with the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031.
