Compound wall collapse in Kasarwadi : Kills a child of six years & injures two

Pune : Six year old dies due to wall collapse in Kasarwadi, Pimpri-Chinchwad on Saturday evening. The child was identified as Lokesh Thakur, a resident of Gulastanagar located a few metres away from the spot where the wall collapsed.

The unfortunate event occurred as the compound wall of Yashwant Pride building in Kasarwadi had collapsed.

“The child was playing and his mother was calling him home. She was near the spot, but slightly away from him,” said police inspector (crime) Devendra Chavan of Bhosari police station. The father of the deceased child runs a fabrication business while his mother is a housewife.

Besides the child two other people were trapped under the debris for at least an hour. The police, fire brigade and local people worked together to pull the two people out. The child as well as the two injured people were rushed to the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pimpri.

“A municipal corporation drainage line work was currently going on close to the compound wall. We are questioning the workers and contractor to find out what caused the collapse,” said PI Chavan.

A case will be registered at the Bhosari police station after the post-mortem report of the child is made available.
