Tamil Nadu may open the Mullaperiyar dam on Friday; Kerala is ready, according to Roshy

Thiruvananthapuram: After weeks of uncertainty, the Tamil Nadu government has approved the opening of the Mullaperiyar dam’s shutters.
Depending on the water level and the amount of water flowing into the dam, the shutters would be raised at 7 a.m. on Friday.

Meanwhile, Roshi Augustine, Minister of Water Resources, stated that the state is fully prepared to deal with the development.

Roshi Augustine stated earlier today that the state government supports the demand for a new dam at Mullaperiyar. He stated that he could not accept the oversight committee’s position that the water level did not need to be changed. Mullaperiyar’s current water level is 137.75 feet. The dam’s current water flow rate is 3800 cubic feet per second. Tamil Nadu consumes 2300 cubic feet of air per second.

“The Idukki dam’s water level has been reduced. It can withstand the flow of water released by the Mullaperiyar dam’s spillway. However, it is concerning that the water level in Mullaperiyar has now risen more than expected. The state raised this concern in front of the oversight committee “He continued. The minister also assured the people that they did not need to be concerned about the dam because the government had taken all necessary precautions.
