Vayu to hit areas between Porbandar and Kutch : Gujarat is on high alert

Kutch : Vayu, the cyclone is moving towards the north and is expected to hit the Gujarat coast on June 13. It will hit the areas between Porbandar and Mahuva with wind speed up to 120 kmph.

Around 3 lakh people will be evacuated from the western coast as Gujarat prepares for Cyclone Vayu. Vayu is inching closer to the coast.

Schools, colleges and anganwadis in the coastal districts will be shut on June 12 and 13.

The Gujarat government is on high alert. It deployed National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel in the coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch Tuesday morning. The government has advised fishermen against venturing into the sea in the next few days and ports have been directed to flag a danger signal.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that the entire coastline, starting from Kutch to south Gujarat are on “high alert” .

Authorities are prepping to evacuate close to 3,00,000 people off the western coast , furthermore the state’s chief secretary said that evacuations will begin from today.
