Lady police officer in Kerala set on fire : Died on the spot

Alleppy : A woman police officer in Kerala’s Alappuzha district has died after she was set on fire this afternoon by a man who poured petrol on her.

The 34-year-old civil police officer died on the spot. The incident happened in Mavelikara, around 40 km from Alappuzha.

She was returning home after duty on a motorcycle when a man in another vehicle dashed her bike.

She is identified as Soumya, a mother of three children, fell on the road and the accused attacked her. He later poured petrol over the woman and set her on fire.

The attacker also suffered burn injuries and has been taken to a hospital.

The identity of the assailant is yet to be revealed.
