Kerala’s lockdown will be eased, and public transportation will resume partially on June 17.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced that the state government has decided to relax lockdown restrictions beginning June 16. From June 17 onwards, moderate-level public transportation will be permitted. The state will also be subject to strict restrictions on Saturday and Sunday, according to the chief minister.

After determining containment zones in local bodies with a high test positivity rate (TPR), strict restrictions will be imposed. If the TPR after 7 days is 8%, the area is considered to have a low transmission rate.
Places with TPRs between 8 and 20 will be considered moderate transmission rate areas, while those with TPRs greater than 20 will be considered high transmission rate areas. In areas where the TPR is greater than 30, strict curbs will be imposed.

All local governments will be able to conduct industrial and agricultural activities. Transportation will be provided for workers in these industries. Shops selling necessities will be permitted to operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. On Mondays and Fridays, Akshaya centres will be open.
From June 17, central and state government institutions, public sector companies, government companies, and self-governing bodies can operate on a daily basis with a 25 percent staff rotation.

On a rotating basis, the Secretariat may employ up to 50% of its staff. Banks can continue to operate in the same manner as before.
All central and state level examinations will be permitted. Restaurants do not allow dine-in. However, home delivery and takeout will be encouraged. Tourism, entertainment events, large-scale indoor events, and shopping malls are not permitted.
Weddings and funerals are limited to 20 people. Other crowding and public events will be prohibited. Though lockdown restrictions have been lifted, people should remain vigilant in order to resist the Delta virus and the third wave, according to the chief minister.
