Kerala Sends Strong Contingent of 496 Athletes to National Games 2023 in Goa

Kerala is gearing up for a robust representation at the National Games 2023, scheduled to be held in Goa from October 26 to November 9. A contingent of 496 athletes, along with 129 officials, will proudly represent the state in 33 events. The team is under the able leadership of former international volleyball player and ex-bureaucrat, VA Moideen Naina. The honor of being Kerala’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony goes to the state’s swimming sensation, Olympian Sajan Prakash.

Despite uncertainties surrounding the inclusion of volleyball and handball in the official list of events, Kerala remains prepared. If these sports are added at the last minute, Kerala’s participation will extend to 35 events. Additionally, Kerala’s athletes will showcase their talents in newly inducted events such as Modern Pentathlon, Kalaripayattu, Golf, and Sqay martial arts. To ensure peak performance, athletes have been diligently training in various camps organized by the state sports council across Kerala in preparation for the games. Kerala is all set to make its mark in the National Games 2023, displaying the state’s sports prowess and determination.
