Fly91, Malayali-Owned Airline, Nears Takeoff as Test Flying Successfully Concludes

Fly91, the brainchild of aviation industry veteran Manoj Chacko, is poised for takeoff as its inaugural aircraft successfully completes test flying, marking a crucial step towards securing flight permits. Named after the country’s telephone code ’91,’ the airline aims to fill the connectivity void in smaller Indian cities under the Udaan project. Manoj Chacko, formerly associated with Kingfisher Airlines, envisions connecting towns often overlooked by larger carriers, emphasizing the need for affordable and accessible air travel. Fly91’s commitment to using 72-78 seat aircraft positions it uniquely to bridge the gap in smaller cities and contribute to enhanced connectivity, starting from locations in Kerala and expanding to tier 2 and tier 3 towns across the country.

The initiative comes after years of contemplation by Manoj Chacko, who identified the challenges faced by smaller cities in terms of air travel. With unused airports and the lack of smaller aircraft, Fly91 aims to bring relief to flyers by offering affordable options for timely travel. The airline’s emphasis on addressing both travel time and affordability positions it as a promising player in the Indian aviation landscape. As the aviation industry veteran envisions, Fly91 has the potential to meet the demand for connectivity in smaller cities and make air travel more accessible to a broader segment of the population.
