Raj Kundra has been taken into custody until July 23 in connection with a pornographic film case.

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband, businessman Raj Kundra, and Ryan Tharp have been placed in police custody until July 23, 2021. On Monday night, Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch in connection with the creation of pornographic films and their distribution via various apps (July 19, 2021). ‘

On Tuesday, he appeared in the Esplanade Court. Along with Ryan Tharp, who was arrested in the Nerul area on Tuesday morning, the businessman has been placed in judicial custody until July 23.

According to the PTI report, Thorpe was working on a senior position with an app firm.

According to a press release issued by Mumbai CP on Monday, “In February 2021, a case was filed with the Crime Branch in Mumbai regarding the production of pornographic films and their distribution via various apps. On 19/7/21, we arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case because he appears to be the main conspirator. We have plenty of evidence to back this up. Please keep in mind that the investigation is ongoing.”

According to a senior police official, a case was filed with the Mumbai Crime Branch in February 2021 regarding the creation of pornographic films and their distribution through various Apps. An FIR was filed against Kundra after a woman approached the police and made specific allegations in her complaint, according to another official.

The FIR was filed on that basis, and the case was transferred to the Crime Branch. Previously, the police had registered cases involving pornography in which an actress and others were named as suspects, an official told PTI.

Kundra was charged under IPC Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (obscene and indecent advertisements and displays), as well as relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, according to him.
