Kerala High Court Halts Government Order on Nava Kerala Sadas Fundraising

The Kerala High Court has intervened by issuing a stay on a state government order directing district collectors to raise funds for Nava Kerala Sadas events through advertisements. This decision came after a petition was filed by a resident of Pathanamthitta, and the court raised concerns about the lack of guidelines governing the acquisition and accounting of funds through advertisements. The bench, comprising Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque and Justice Shoba Annamma Eapen, emphasized the need for transparency in the fundraising process. The court is scheduled to reconsider the petition on Tuesday, and the government is expected to inform the court if there are established guidelines for the collection of funds by district administrations.

Nava Kerala Sadas events are initiatives by the Kerala government aimed at promoting development and addressing public grievances. However, the court’s intervention reflects the importance of ensuring a clear and lawful framework for fundraising activities to maintain transparency and accountability in the utilization of funds for such programs.
