COVID-19; Kerala reported 53 cases on Sunday
Kerala recorded 53 COVID-19 cases on Sunday while 5 tested negative, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said through his official Facebook account. This is for the second consecutive day that Kerala is recording over 50 coronavirus cases in a day, On Saturday, the number was 62.
Out of the new cases, 12 each are from Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram districts, 5 each are from Malappuram and Kasaragod, 4 each from Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Palakkad, 3 from Kollam, 2 from Pathanamthitta and one from Kozhikode district. One is a Tamil Nadu native. Out of the 53 coronavirus positive cases, 18 had returned from abroad (Oman – 3, UAE-11, Saudi Arabia -3, Kuwait – 1). 29 had returned from other states (Maharashtra – 19, Tamil Nadu – 3, Gujarat- 5, Madhya Pradesh – 1, Delhi – 1).
Meanwhile, Amina (53), hailing from Kalpetta in Wayanad, who had recently returned from abroad, died due to COVID-19 at the Kozhikode medical college on Sunday afternoon. Amina, who is a cancer patient, had returned from Dubai on May 20. She was admitted to hospital 4 days ago. At present, 95,394 persons are kept under isolation in the state – 94,662 in home or institutional quarantines and 732 in hospitals. As many as 188 persons were admitted to hospitals on Sunday.
