108 new COVID-19 cases in Kerala on Saturday; 50 test negative

Kerala confirmed 108 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, reported by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. This is the second consecutive day that the state is recording over 100 COVID cases on a single day. 50 patients also recovered from the disease on Saturday, the CM said in a Facebook post. Among the new COVID positive cases, 19 are from Kollam, 16 are from Thrissur, 12 each are from Malappuram and Kannur, 11 are from Palakkad, 10 are from Kasaragod, 9 are from Pathanamthitta, 4 each are from Alappuzha and Kozhikode, 3 each are from Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki and Ernakulam and 2 from Kottayam.

64 among the disease confirmed persons returned from abroad (UAE – 28, Kuwait – 14, Tajikistan – 13, Saudi Arabia – 4, Nigeria – 3, Oman 1, Ireland – 1). Meanwhile, 34 returned from other states. 15 people returned from Maharashtra tested positive for COVID-19 while 5 from Tamil Nadu, 8 from Delhi, 4 from Gujarat and 1 each from Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh were confirmed with the disease. 10 people contracted the disease through contact including 7 from Palakkad, 2 from Malappuram and one from Thrissur. Out of the 50 negative cases, 30 are from Palakkad, 7 are from Kozhikode (including 6 Air India staff), 6 from Ernakulam (including 2 Kollam natives), 5 from Kannur and 1 each from Idukki and Kasaragod. In Malappuram, Parappanangadi native Hamsakkoya (61) died at the Manjeri Medical College Hospital on Saturday taking the death toll in the state to 15.
