Tripura reported the first COVID19 death on Tuesday. This was confirmed by Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a tweet on Tuesday evening. The chief minister informed that the infected patient was suffering from hypertension.

The first victim of COVID19 infection in the state was from the West Tripura district. He has been identified as Biswa Kumar Debbarma.

Chief minister said the doctors made their level best but failed to save the COVID19 patient. He also informed that the deceased, who was a hypertension patient, had suffered a stroke on May 1.

“Unfortunate to share that Mr. Biswa Kumar Debbarma, a COVID19 patient from West Tripura, is no more. Our Doctors gave their best but failed to save his precious life,” chief minister Deb tweeted.

“On 1st May, he suffered a stroke (CVA) and was a patient of hypertension,” he added.

Meanwhile, Tripura has registered 26 more COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 867.

Confirming the news, Tripura chief minister Deb in a tweet at 9.39 pm on Tuesday said a total of 1,450 samples were tested for COVID19 in the state on Tuesday, out of which 26 were found positive for the virus.

His home was in the Chachu market area, of West Tripura District. He died at 3 pm today. He is 48 years old. On June 3, he was admitted to GBP Hospital. Her son is from Bangalore.

The education minister said his family would be helped with one million rupees. Tripura registered 841 COVID positive case and active case in the state is 644.
