World Health Organisation Tests Interim Data From COVID-19 Trial On HIV Drugs

World Health Organisation (WHO) is searching for interim data from its big multi-country trial of the blending of HIV drugs Lopinavir and Ritonavir to treat COVID-19 patients, the UN agency’s chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan said on Thursday.

Soumya Swaminathan comments come after the World Health Organisation on Wednesday stopped testing of the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine in the trial of treatments for COVID-19 patients, after studies indicated it showed zero benefit in those who have the disease. She said more study was needed to see whether hydroxchloroquine could prevent the massive spread.

All over the world around 8,331,135 people have been infected while 448,504 have lost their lives.
