Covid 19: Lockdown begins in Chennai and 3 districts in Tamil Nadu

With covid 19 cases crossing 50,000-mark in Tamil Nadu a twelve day lockdown without any previous relaxations started on Friday in Chennai and in a string of other localities in adjacent three districts of the state

Again a lockdown in Chennai, was announced by Chief Minister K.Palaniswami in Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts between June 19-30 subject to some relaxations to necessary/emergency services.

Because of the lockdown kick-starting from today, Chennai witnessed some crowding at the vegetable and grocery shops as part of panic buying essential commodities even though the state government had informed that the shops will be kept open during the next 12 days.
