  • Postpartum depression– occurs in women right after childbirth and is much more severe than baby blues that go away within a week or two of delivery.
  • Psychotic depression– severe condition with hallucinations and delusions, generally of disease, poverty or being sick.
  • Bipolar disorder– not really depression but has signs similar to those of depression, alternating with signs of mania.

Depression treatment depends on the severity of the condition. It range from self-help groups to the administration of antidepressants, psychiatric treatment and lifestyle management.
