Government Announces Compensation and Support Measures in Wake of Kamalassery Incident

In response to the tragic incident of the Kamalassery blast on October 29, the government has announced several measures to support the victims and their families. The cabinet, in its recent meeting, made the following decisions:

Financial Assistance: Families of the Kamalassery blast victims will receive a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. This support aims to alleviate the immediate financial burdens faced by the affected families. Additionally, the government will bear the medical expenses of those undergoing treatment, including expenses incurred at private hospitals.

Pinarayi Police Station: The cabinet has approved the recommendation of the gram panchayat to allocate 25 cents of land owned by Pinarayi gram panchayat for the construction of a police station. This decision aligns with efforts to enhance local infrastructure and ensure community safety.

Government Guarantee Extension: The government guarantee tenure of Rs 6 crore for the Kerala Artisans Development Corporation will be extended for another five years, starting from December 21, 2022. This extension aims to provide continued financial support for the corporation’s initiatives.

Additional Government Guarantee: An additional government guarantee of Rs 100 crore will be granted to the Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation to facilitate the availability of loans. This measure aims to strengthen the financial position of the corporation and support its developmental activities.

These decisions reflect the government’s commitment to providing timely assistance and support to those affected by the Kamalassery blast, addressing both immediate and long-term needs.
