CM Pinarayi; “I don’t want to go back in time, but since it’s been brought up, I’ll respond.”

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and new Congress state President K. Sudhakaran renewed their feud on Friday, with Vijayan recalling Sudhakaran’s past actions.

In the course of his regular Covid press conference, Vijayan was asked about Sudhakaran’s claim, made in an interview shortly after taking over as state president, that he had kicked down Vijayan, who was his senior at the Government Brennen College, Thalaserry in Kannur district, during his college days.

When he heard the question, Vijayan laughed and said, “I don’t want to go back in time, but since it’s been brought up, I’ll respond.”

“Everything he (Sudhakaran) has said is based on his imagination and contains no truth.”

Vijayan read out statements from Sudhakaran’s colleagues, including the late P. Ramakrishnan, a former Congress district President from Kannur, where both Vijayan and Sudhakaran are from, and Mambarem Divakaran, who said Sudhakaran joined the Congress to make money and was “not a straight person.”

Then he stated that he wished to share an incident that had not previously been disclosed.

“Many years ago, when I was at home in Kannur, I saw a person walking into my house, and he was Sudhakaran’s close aide.” I was initially perplexed as to why he would come to my house. He approached me and asked if I was surprised to see him here. ‘Yes,’ I replied. He stated that he needed to tell me a secret and that he preferred to do so in private. I stated that there are none, so he is free to say whatever he wants. He informed me that Sudhakaran has devised a plan to kidnap my two young children and that I must exercise extreme caution.

“I laughed when I heard this, but I decided not to tell my wife because she, a schoolteacher, would be scared because it was she who used to take our children to school every day,” Vijayan claimed.

When asked to respond to Vijayan’s claim, Sudhakaran stated that he is unconcerned about what has been said and that he will respond on Saturday.

When asked about the comment cited by Vijayan, Divakaran stated that he is a disciplined Congress worker who will not say anything in public.
