Kerala registered 41,971 new COVID cases and 64 deaths on Saturday, informed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Covid has been confirmed for 41,971 more people in Kerala. During the last 24 hours, 1,48,546 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 28.25. A total of 1,69,09,361 samples have been tested so far. No new cases have been reported in the UK, South Africa or Brazil. It has been confirmed that 64 deaths in the last few days were due to Covid. The total death toll was 5746. The test results of 27,456 patients were negative.

387 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 38,662 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 2795 patients remains unidentified.

The district-wise statistics of contact cases: Ernakulam- 5305, Thiruvananthapuram- 4271, Malappuram-4360, Thrissur- 4204, Kozhikode- 3864, Palakkad-1363, Kannur- 2794, Kollam-2827, Alappuzha-2423, Kottayam 2244, Kasaragod- 1706, Wayanad-1145, Pathanamthitta-1137 and Idukki 1019.

127 health workers also tested positive for COVID-19. Among them, 40 were from Kannur, 18 from Kasaragod, 17 from Ernakulam, 9 each from Thrissur and Wayanad, 8 each from Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta, 6 from Kollam, 5 from Palakkad, 3 from Kozhikode, 2 from Idukki and 1 each from Kottayam and Malappuram.

 

There Meanwhile, 27,456 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 2403, Kollam- 1412, Pathanamthitta- 478, Alappuzha- 772, Kottayam- 1404, Idukki- 316, Ernakulam- 4052, Thrissur- 1686, Palakkad-3487, Malappuram- 3388, Kozhikode- 4991, Wayanad- 591, Kannur- 1856 and Kasaragod-620.

With this, the number of active cases touched 4,17,101 in the state. Till date, 14,43,633 people recovered from the disease.

10,81,007 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this 10,50,745 are under home/institutional quarantine and 30,262 people are in hospitals. 53,324 people were taken to hospitals on Saturday.

4 more places were added to the list of hotspots while no place was removed from the list. Currently, there are 788 hotspots in the state.
