India Dominates, Enters U19 Cricket World Cup Semis with Convincing Win Over Nepal

India secured their spot in the semi-finals of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup with an emphatic 132-run victory over Nepal in the Super Six Group 1 match. The twin centuries by Sachin Dhas (116) and skipper Uday Saharan (100) were instrumental in India’s commanding total of 297/5 after a shaky start at 62/3. Dhas and Saharan’s partnership of 215 runs laid the foundation for India’s dominance. In response, Nepal’s batting crumbled under the pressure of Saumy Pandey’s left-arm spin, with figures of 4/29, leaving them at 77/7. Despite a valiant effort by skipper Dev Khanal (33), India’s disciplined bowling limited Nepal to 165/9. India will face South Africa in the semi-finals at Benoni on Tuesday.

The match showcased the resilience of India, with Dhas leading the charge with a well-deserved century. His aggressive yet controlled batting style, along with Saharan’s anchoring innings, turned the tide after an early stumble. Nepal’s innings fell apart during Saumy Pandey’s spell, emphasizing India’s bowling prowess. The victory, marred by an injury scare to regular wicketkeeper batter Aravalli Avanish, marks India’s consistent performance in the tournament. With their eyes set on the title, India aims to continue their formidable run in the upcoming semi-final clash against South Africa.
