Indian Women Shooters Claim Gold in 25m Pistol Team Event at Asian Games

In a remarkable display of teamwork, the Indian trio comprising Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan clinched the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event at the Asian Games. Their combined score of 1759 secured the top spot on the podium, marking India’s fourth gold medal in the ongoing sporting event.

The exceptional Manu Bhaker also dominated the qualification round by concluding the final rapid-fire series with an impressive score of 98.

The Chinese team secured the silver medal with a total score of 1756, while the South Korean shooters settled for the third position, achieving a combined score of 1742.

This victory came shortly after another trio of Indian shooters showcased outstanding performance, securing a silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3-position event. Ashi Chouksey, Manini Koushik, and Sift Kaur Samra collectively scored 1764 points in the qualification round, earning them the second spot on the podium.

The host nation, China, clinched the gold medal with an aggregate score of 1773, and South Korea secured the bronze with a total score of 1756.

Additionally, Samra and Chouksey earned qualification for the finals by finishing second and sixth, respectively, while Kaushik, unfortunately, did not progress further, finishing 18th in the individual event. Notably, Sift Kaur Samra’s total score of 594 set a new joint Asian record for qualification in the competition.
