Dubai Set to Build World’s Largest Solar Farm, Aiming for 1800 MW Power Output

Dubai is in the process of establishing the world’s most extensive solar farm, with plans to generate 1800 MW of electricity from solar energy at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority have partnered with the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company for this ambitious project.

Solar panels will be strategically installed within the park to achieve the targeted electricity generation. This initiative aligns with Dubai’s overarching objective of transitioning from fossil fuels to more environmentally friendly energy sources.

The Managing Director of Dewa, Muhammad Al Tayer, stated that the project is anticipated to be finished by the conclusion of the upcoming year. Upon completion, the country’s solar power production capacity will reach 4660 MW. Currently, solar energy accounts for 16 percent of Dubai’s total electricity generation. Officials project that this percentage will rise to 24 by 2026 and ultimately aspire to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
