With relaxations, the lockdown can be extended in state.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s lockdown can be extended with some relaxations. On Monday, the Covid appraisal meeting, which will be chaired by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, will decide on lockdown. The current lockout will last until Wednesday, and the government will decide to lift it in stages. In almost all industries, more shops may be able to open and restrictions may be relaxed.

There will be restrictions in areas where people are crowded, as many have predicted a third wave of the pandemic. It has been learned that the state will be declared free of covid infection once 75 per cent of the population has been vaccinated. Just 25% of people have received the first dose so far. The chief minister said that vaccination was the most effective way to combat the pandemic.

There are also proposals to create a new system to monitor the spread of the infection in each local body until 75 per cent of the population has been completely vaccinated.
