Tiger attack: Holiday announces for educational institutions, hartal on Friday

In the wake of the tiger attack in Wayanad, the district collector announced a holiday for all educational institutions in Thondernad and Thavinhal grama panchayats on Friday. Opposition UDF has announced a hartal in Thondernad grama panchayat on Friday from 6 am to 6 pm.

A farmer was killed in the tiger attack. UDF alleged that the poor condition of Wayanad Medical College Hospital led to the death of Thomas, the victim of the attack. Thomas, who suffered grave injuries, was first taken to the medical college in the district and was later shifted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

UDF has also demanded the government pay Rs 50 lakh as compensation and provide jobs to a family member of the victim. Forest minister AK Saseendran had announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the family.
