Pakistan lifts its ban imports from India

Pakistan announced limited renewal of trade with India; deciding to import sugar and cotton to address the rising price of sugar and cotton shortage in the country.

This decision by the federal cabinet came after 19 months ,Pakistan unilaterally ended bilateral trade relations as protest against India to make constitutional and cartographic changes in Jammu & Kashmir.

Announcing the decision to have sugar and cotton imports from India, Pakistan’s new finance minister, Hammad Azhar, said both moves were dictated by domestic needs. In India sugar is cheaper than the rest of the world from where Pakistan usually imports; so the government has decided to accept the recommendation of the Prime Minister’s Economic Coordination Committee to allow import  sugar.
