Kerala records over 73 per cent polling
Kerala has witnessed brisk polling in the final hours of the election day. Long queues of voters was seen at many polling booths across the state. The polling turnout was recorded at over 71 percent by 6 pm.
Despite scorching sun and rain in many parts of the state, people, including women and senior citizens, stood in queues for a long time to cast their vote.
Northern Kannur, Kozhikode, Palakkad and Thirssur were districts which recorded comparatively higher polling percentage. Pathanamthitta and Idukki reported lower percentage.
Isolated incidents of squabbles between rival party activists were reported in some places . Small clashes were reported at Kattayikkona. CPM and BJP workers engaged in conflict and the police took into custody two persons.
