Kerala logs highest single day spike with 38,607 new COVID-19 cases

Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 38,607 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Kerala on Thursday. 48 deaths also were reported. The test positivity rate was recorded at 24.5. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed this in a press meet held here after the Covid review meeting on Thursday.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam – 5369, Kozhikode – 4990, Thrissur – 3954, Thiruvananthapuram – 3940, Malappuram – 3857, Kottayam – 3616, Palakkad – 2411, Kollam – 2058, Alappuzha – 2043, Kannur – 1999, Pathanamthitta –1245, Idukki – 1153, Kasaragod – 1063 and Wayanad – 909.

48 deaths were confirmed due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has touched 5,259. Test results from Alappuzha NIV are awaited to confirm other suspected Covid deaths.

19 new hotspots were identified on Thursday while no place was removed from the list. Currently, there are 616 hotspots in the state.
