Ration share of white card holders reduced

Thiruvananthapuram: The Food and Public Distribution Department has reduced the normal ration quota for white ration card holders in May. Instead of giving 4 kg of rice at Rs 10.90 per kg last month, this time only 2 kg will be given. The blue card will continue to provide 2 kg of rice at Rs 4 per kg to each member this month as well.
White and blue ration cardholders will also be given 10 kg of special rice at Rs 15 per kg this month. Brown card holders will get special rice and a regular ration of 2 kg each. They will be given regular ration rice at Rs 10.90 per kg and special rice at Rs 15 per kg.

There is a problem that there is not enough stock in the special rice shops. There is no kerosene supply this month either. Kerosene has been supplied every three months for a long time due to low central allocation. It was finally delivered in March. Ration distribution for May will start today.… According to the Food Distribution Department, the Prime Minister will soon announce free rice distribution to yellow and pink card holders under the Garib Kalyan Annayojana scheme.

Meanwhile, the All Kerala Retail Ration Dealers Association has written to the Prime Minister asking him to include ration traders in the front line and provide insurance cover.
