Station House Officer in punjab Phagwara station suspended for kicking street vendor’s vegetable basket

Punjab police suspend roadside vendor Navdeep Singh, station house officer at Pagwara station, has been suspended. DGP Dinkar Gupta said on Twitter that he was suspended after a video of Navdeep stepping on a vegetable seller was circulated on social media.

The DGP tweeted that Navdeep’s move was “absolutely shameful and unacceptable”. ‘Pagwara SHO suspended. Such behavior cannot be tolerated for any reason. Those who do such things will face severe repercussions, ”the DGP wrote on Twitter.

Kapurthala senior SP Kanwardeep Kaur said that as a member of the army, such behavior was against the rules of service and that the work of that police officer had embarrassed the entire force. The police officer was immediately suspended as a matter of urgency. Kanwardeep Kaur said that a departmental inquiry has been ordered against him. As compensation, police officers at Kapurthala station disbursed a portion of their salary to a street vendor.
