Vagamon Glass Bridge Attracts Over 1 Lakh Tourists in 3.5 Months, Faces Overcrowding Challenges

In the span of just three and a half months since its inauguration, the Vagamon glass bridge has become a major tourist magnet, drawing over one lakh visitors. Located at an elevation of 3500 feet within the Kolhalamet adventure park, the 40-meter-long glass bridge has gained immense popularity, especially during the Christmas holidays. However, the surge in visitors has led to overcrowding issues, leaving thousands disappointed.

Access to the glass bridge is managed through on-site ticket collection, and the entry sessions, operating from 9 am to 5 pm, allow 15 people at a time for a duration of five to ten minutes per person. Adverse weather conditions like heavy winds or rain may restrict access for safety reasons. Since its opening on September 6, the glass bridge has consistently attracted 1000 to 1200 visitors daily, generating a substantial income of Rs 2.50 crores from ticket sales.

The glass bridge, constructed with imported glass from Germany at a cost of Rs 3 crores, has become a collaborative initiative between the government and private entrepreneurs. The entry fee of Rs 250 per person contributes significantly to the revenue, with 40 percent going to the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) and the remaining 60 percent to the collaborating company, Bharat Mata Ventures Private Limited.
