Lockdown: Odisha Chief Minister has sanctioned Rs 60 lakh for feeding street animals

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has released funds from the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to provide food to street animals. Patnaik had sanctioned Rs 60 lakh from CMRF. The Odisha Chief Minister has sanctioned the funds in the wake of lockdowns in various parts of the state in the wake of Covid expansion.

Odisha has declared lockdowns in 5 metropolitan corporations, 48 ​​municipalities and 61 notified area councils as several states across the country are going through lockdowns. It is in this context that a special decision was made to ensure food for street animals.

Special arrangements have been made in the areas where the lockdown has been declared to ensure that the animals receive food. In Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Rourkela, and Brahmapur corporations Rs 20,000 per day, in municipalities Rs 5,000 and notified area councils Rs 2,000 per day will be spent on food.

The government has said it will provide food for street animals through volunteers and organizations. Meanwhile, in Odisha, vaccination has been started for 18-year-olds. The vaccine is given to people between the ages of 18 and 44 in five municipal corporations, depending on the availability of the vaccine.
