New Delhi: The Center has warned that the fungal infection ‘mucormycosis’ found in covid patients could be fatal if not treated adequately. The guidelines on diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment are issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research and the Union Ministry of Health. Eight people were killed in Maharashtra yesterday. Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated in Gujarat and Telangana. The warning is in this context.

On the other hand, people with diabetes may have sinusitis, numbness, and pain in one side of the face, toothache, black in the bridge of the nose, double vision, chest pain, skin damage, and blood clots.

To prevent the disease, the center also recommends testing blood sugar levels in covid-free people, administering the right amount of steroids only at the right time, using only purified water in oxygen therapy, and using antibiotics and antifungal drugs with caution. The proposal also says that controlling diabetes and reducing immunosuppressive drugs and steroids can help prevent fungal infections.
