Heavy rains predicted in Kerala, forecasts first cyclone of the year, orange alert in various districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast low pressure in the south-eastern Arabian Sea by May 14. The Department of Meteorology also predicts that the low pressure area could become a hurricane with more force. Due to the possibility of bad weather and strong winds at sea in connection with the formation of low pressure, fishing from the coast of Kerala will be completely banned from 14 onwards until further notice.

Fishermen who are currently fishing in the deep sea should reach the nearest safe shore before May 14.

The Disaster Management Authority (DMA) has directed the government to take immediate steps to disseminate this information to deep-sea fishermen.

Although Kerala is not in the current low pressure path, there is a possibility of strong sea swell, strong winds in the coastal areas and heavy rainfall in various parts of Kerala during the low pressure formation phase. He warned that the government and the public should take precautionary measures
