The Modi government pledges that no Indian would be left behind in Afghanistan

Even as India has increased its evacuation efforts, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan has pledged that all Indians will be returned to India from Afghanistan.

In the midst of the escalating situation in Kabul, the Indian Air Force evacuated 350 individuals in three stages. Over 60 Afghans were among the evacuees who were also returned.

Muraleedharan addressed the media, saying, “The administration has accelerated its evacuation efforts in order to bring stranded Indians from Afghanistan as soon as possible. The government would return all Indians, including Malayalees, who wish to return home.”

In order to facilitate the evacuation process, the government has established an Afghanistan special cell to help stranded Indian people who seek to return to India.

“Employees of the Indian Embassy were brought back during the early stage of the evacuation operation. Following this, all Indians, including Malayalees, who submitted inquiries via the MEA’s hotline and an e-mail will be contacted soon “He stated.

“According to preliminary estimates, there are roughly 500 Indians stuck there. The Indian government will take precautions to assure their safe arrival at Kabul International Airport “The minister continued.

The federal minister’s words came only hours after Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan praised the External Affairs Ministry and the Prime Minister’s Office for their work in evacuating Indian people, particularly Malayalees.

He also asked Kerala residents in need of assistance to contact the MEA’s Special Afghanistan cell, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
