Most of the money in the account came from the vegetable business: Bineesh

Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court has postponed for a week the bail application of Bineesh Kodiyeri in a money laundering case. The court ruled that seven months’ imprisonment was not a reason to grant bail and that detailed arguments were needed. Bineesh claims that most of the money in the account came from the vegetable trade. Bineesh’s main demand is that he be granted bail to go home to care for his father Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who is suffering from cancer.

Earlier in the day, Bineesh had told the high court that Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s cancer was serious and that he needed close family members, including his son. Bineesh is the fourth accused in a money laundering case being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a drug deal.

Kodiyeri’s medical certificate was also produced that day. Bineesh’s bail application was rejected by the ED special court on February 22. He then approached the High Court.
