Users of Instagram can now schedule IG Live: Here’s how to go about it

Instagram has introduced a new tool that allows users to schedule IG Live broadcasts up to 90 days in advance. For those who are unfamiliar, Instagram Live allows users to broadcast live videos to their followers via Instagram Stories. It’s great for increasing user interaction, communicating directly with them, disseminating news, and building your brand.

According to the company, viewers will be able to “sign up” for Instagram “to serve as a reminder to tune in.” According to a statement on Instagram, the Facebook-owned social media network expects the tool to aid in “finding and dissemination.” In June, TikTok released a set of creator tools, including the ability to schedule TikTok LIVE videos. The ByteDance-owned platform is still blocked in India for security reasons.

To schedule an Instagram Live, open the app and swipe left to right to open the camera. Instagram’s default format is ‘Story,’ so scroll right to find Live. Then click ‘Schedule,’ give the event a name, and select a date and time. Users must then share it as a post with an image. Viewers will see the post, description, and prompt with the live link. Many creators will benefit from the functionality because it will allow them to publicize upcoming events. With scheduled Live events, creators can upload countdown stories and much more.

Meanwhile, just days after two outages disrupted Facebook and its services, the platform announced that it is working on a feature that will alert users of outages or technical issues directly within the app.
Instagram announced in a blog post that the test will be conducted in the United States for a few months. Due to a six-hour outage on October 4, the company’s 3.5 billion users were unable to access its social media and messaging services, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.

Instagram has announced plans to combine IGTV and feed videos into a single format known as Instagram Videos. It also revealed that the profile would get a new Video tab, denoted by a triangle. It will be used in place of the previous IGTV box logo. The change will significantly improve how people consume content on the platform.
