BJP Picks G Ligin Lal as Candidate for Puthuppally Bypoll, Focuses on Party’s Ideals in Campaign

G Ligin Lal, the Kottayam district president of the BJP, has been chosen by the party’s central leadership to contest the Puthuppally Assembly by-election. This decision follows the announcement of Chandy Oommen and Jaick C Thomas as candidates by the Congress and CPM respectively. The BJP regards the Puthuppally bypoll as a showdown between the left and right political fronts, according to Ligin. He emphasized that the BJP’s campaign will focus on the party’s overall stance rather than individual figures. Ligin highlighted that the people of Puthuppally will engage in discussions about the myth controversy, particularly related to the Puthuppally saint. He noted that Jaick had recently addressed this issue and challenged MV Govindan and Shamseer to provide their perspective on whether this saint is a myth or not.
