Do you spend more than two hours a day on social media?

How much time do you spend on social media each day? It has now been reported that excessive use of social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, or Twitter can seriously affect mental health.

New research from the US suggests that the more time you spend on social networks, the more likely you are to develop depression. It has been previously reported that young users who overuse social media are more likely to develop depression.

But previous studies have not clarified whether social media or spending too much time on social media causes depression. New research shows that prolonged use of social media can increase the risk of depression. Said Dr. Brian Primack of the University of Arkansas.

The study is published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. The study was sampled from more than a thousand young people between the ages of 18 and 30. They used a special questionnaire to understand depression.

Scientists have found that young people who spend more than five hours a day on social media are 2.8 times more likely to develop depression within six months. People who use social networks for less than two hours a day are relatively less likely.

Researchers also suggest that spending more time on social media reduces the amount of time available for personal relationships.
