New Delhi: The IT Act 2021 came into force in the country. Following Facebook, Google and YouTube announced that they would abide by the law. But Twitter, which continues to clash with the government, has not yet commented on the matter.
Companies will also be responsible for all illegal things posted on social media from today. The concern is what action the central government will take against those who do not follow the directive to appoint officials to look into complaints related to content on social media. According to guidelines issued in February, only one social media company in the country has appointed grievance redressal officers.
