Nagpur-based National Institute of Environmental Engineering (NEERI) under the Council of Scientific Research (CSIR) with ‘Saline Gargle RT-PCR’ to expedite covid testing. A collection tube filled with saline solution is used for this purpose.
This saline solution is then gargled (shaken out of the throat) and collected in the same tube. The tube is then taken to the lab and stored at room temperature in a special solution prepared by NEERI. The test is performed by heating the solution.
