Corona Virus Varient Firs Found In India Named Delta Varient; WHO

The First Coronavirus variant in India, b.1.617, was named ‘Delta Variant’ by the World Health Organization (WHO). The WHO announcement follows opposition from the central government. The WHO had earlier said that the names of countries where viruses or variants were detected should not be identified.

The B.1.617 variant is officially recorded in 53 terrains. Although it is a  rapidly transmitted Varient the severity of this variant and the possibility of infection are under investigation. The current systems will continue to name and track genetic records of the SARS-COVE-2 virus.

The expert team convened by the World Health Organization recommended that letters in the Greek alphabet be used for virus variants. The World Health Organization estimates that names such as alpha, beta and gamma will be easier and more practical for ordinary people to identify and discuss virus variants.
