A H10N3 variant of bird flu has been confirmed in man for the first time; First Reported in China!

Beijing: A H10N3 variant of bird flu has been confirmed in man for the first time. The bird flu virus was discovered in man in China’s eastern province of Jiangsu.

Several variants of the avian influenza virus that spread bird flu have been reported worldwide. Of these, variants including H5N8 have already been confirmed in cases of human transmission. This is the first time the H10N3 variant has been confirmed in humans.

The bird flu virus was confirmed in a 41-year-old man in the city of Seijiang. His health condition is satisfactory. The authorities said that the disease is transmitted from poultry farms and there is very little chance of becoming an epidemic.

H10N3 is a low-intensity viral variant of bird flu. Birds are severely affected by the H5N8 variant of bird flu. An H5N8 variant of bird flu was reported last April in the city of Shenyang in northeast China.

The H5N8 Avian Influenza virus led to the destruction of thousands of ducks and chickens in Alappuzha and Kuttanad last year.
