Monsoon Not yet arrived

Monsoon is delayed in the state. There was no rain in recent days to officially declare that the monsoon had arrived. Rain may strengthen by Monday.

The first forecast of the Metrological department was that the monsoon would arrive in the state on May 31. Then it was announced that the monsoon would arrive today. However, it is estimated that the monsoon started with two consecutive rainfall of more than 2.5 mm at the designated stations as per norms. Kerala has not received that much rain in two days. So experts have concluded that the monsoon will be delayed.

The reason for the continued rainfall is that the monsoon winds are not yet active. Today, yellow alerts are in place in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts. The monsoon is forecast to be weaker than average. But this time it was the highest summer rainfall in the last 50 years.
